My long time friend Billy Dec knows all about giving back. That’s why I had no qualms about asking him for $30 bucks….
…so he can send a kid home with a bunch of books to read over summer break.
WITS – stands for Working In The Schools. WITS mission is to promote literacy and bridge the achievement and opportunity gap for underserved students through building connections with positive adult role models. Through mentoring and programs that WITS funds we are able to provide the critical support that our students need to set them on a path toward academic success.
(Bears’ kicker Robbie Gould’s is part of the team helping WITS students keep reading all summer long)
This year, WITS is working to send all of our students home for summer break ready to read. For $30, you can send WITSummer Books home with one student; $750 sends WITSummer Books home to an entire classroom of students.
I have always loved to read and hope to reinforce that passion in these students. I have met some of the WITS students and I can tell you they’re eager and hungry to learn! So if you can, please help WITS share the power of summer reading and send a student home with WITSummer Books. Here is the link to our crowdrise site (kind of like kickstarter) http://www.crowdrise.com/WITSummerBooks.
Donations will be matched, dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000, by an anonymous donor.
Thank you!!!
