Local & national celebrities, athletes, activists & survivors will join together this weekend (Aug. 12 & 13) to help raise funds & awareness to those affected by sickle-cell anemia.  The weekend of events is presented by the Conrad Hotel of Chicago & will include an exclusive roof top party at the Terrace at the Conrad Hotel, celebrity bowling at Lucky Strike in River East Center and VIP reception and auction at Rockit Bar & Grill.

Sickle cell anemia is a autosomal recessive genetic blood disorder that occurs as a result of a mutation in the hemoglobin gene. Life expectancy is greatly shortened from this disorder. Average life expectancies are 42 in males & 42 in females.  Former NFL player Robert Mackey and his organization, the J. Zemar Premium Band (an urban contemporary collection) & the Lydia W. Smith Foundation are teaming up to help fight against this disorder.  Additionally, Robert Mackey’s J. Zemar brand will be donation 10% of his gross to the foundation in each Spring/Winter & Fall/Winter.
