Hemmingbirds Record Release Party at Schuba’s

Hey all, this is Yoo Soo Kim from Hemmingbirds! My Chicago-based band will be celebrating the release of our new EP, Half a Second, this Friday, February 26th at Schuba’s Tavern. We were recently featured on Do312 as one of “16 Bands & Artists to Watch in 2016,” and we have drawn comparisons to The National, Phoenix and The Strokes, amongst others.

Chicago Family Palooza 2016

Just because it is Winter doesn’t mean that the fun stops. On February 27-28 from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL, Chicago Family Palooza is providing the fun, both for the kids and kids-at heart and is the perfect answer to that daily Winter question “What are we going to do today?!”

Lurie Children’s Hospital Valentine Program

For many children, Valentine’s Day means celebrating at school with fun festivities and exchanging thoughtfully-selected valentines with friends and family. However, the patients of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago will spend the day in their hospital room.

Chicago AutoShow 2016

Toes cold, Chicago? Dreaming of the summer, when festivals, events and chances to get outside and be a part of something abound? While winter in the Windy City doesn't offer the kind of outdoor fun and camaraderie of a Pitchfork or Lollapalooza, the Chicago Auto Show is the Windy City's winter hot spot, offering all manner of welcome surprises (even if cars aren't your thing).

Women with Drive Foundation

It’s an honor to be a part of their journey. Twenty-five years ago, I was a single mom on welfare. I didn’t have a car, but I had drive. ...and the help of friends and a community that helped me build a better life for my children.

The Endless Discovery of Music Venues in Chicago

In the nearly twelve years I've lived in Chicago, one thing has become delightfully apparent: I will never run out of new restaurants in the city to try. As a food enthusiast, this is one of my favorite aspects of living here. My name is Andy Metz. I'm a local musician, and the longer I've lived in Chicago, the longer I've realized the same can be said about the bevy of music venues there are to experience.

The Junior Council’s 28th Annual Snowball

In a couple of weeks, one of the most exciting events in Chicago is going to be held and for a great cause. The Junior Council will be hosting their 28th Annual Snowball, a black tie event hosting 2,000 young professionals for a night of dancing, drinking, eating and socializing while raising money for the Infectious Disease Clinic at the children's hospital. It's a great opportunity for networking, making new friends and supporting a cause that will give kids a chance at life when they may not have had one before. We promise this is a night you will NOT forget!
