Hey Chicago!! It’s 103.5 KISS-FM‘s morning diva, Angi Taylor, guest blogging to talk about the amazing PAWS event Animal Magnetism I want you all to know about!
Ever thought it would be fun to get dressed-up, get the family pooch (or pooches!) dressed-up, and hit the town together for a swanky night out? You can, AND you’ll be raising money for PAWS Chicago at the same time. Win-win!
Not only will you walk the red carpet with your dapper dog, enjoy amazing food, and be able to dance the night away together, but your 4-legged pal will also be treated to their own doggie buffet! A benefit wouldn’t be complete without an amazing silent auction, too. This year’s items include:
Lollapalooza 3-day passes (Helloooo, Jay-Z is rumored to be headlining!)
Founded in 1997, PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving) is the Midwest’s largest non-profit, No Kill humane organization. PAWS Chicago envisions a No Kill Chicago – a city in which no pets are destroyed just because they are homeless. Working toward that goal, PAWS Chicago is on track to find homes for more than 5,600 pets out of the cageless, No Kill Adoption & Humane Center and to perform free and low cost spay/neuter surgeries for more than 18,000 pets in 2013.
Get your tickets here, and we’ll see you and your pup on the dance floor!
I moved to Illinois from New Jersey a month ago with big plans of starting my young life in Chicago. Almost every day a Chi-town veteran asks me one question, why Chi? You would think that having been so close to New York City I would get sucked into its gravitational pull, but no, I found asweet escape from those filthy streets. Coming from the NYC area few peoplerealize how delightfully overrated NYC truly is. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking my tri-state, but I certainly had a few clear reasons to leave the city that never sleeps for its Midwestern equivalent. Here are my top ten reasons to move to Chicago!
#10 Super Speedy Service – I ordered a sandwich for lunch today and as soon as she handed me my receipt the chef handed me my sandwich. Nice.
#9 Gorgeous and safe parks – No doubt you’ll find a park that fits your recreational needs in the largest park district in the US!
#8 Travelling with the Chicago Grid System – It’s impossible to get lost when the street signs tell you how far you are from your destination. Who needs a GPS when you’ve got the grid?
#7 Reasonable rent – Seriously I pay $550 a month and have a gorgeous room, gigantic closet and excellent roommates. This must be heaven.
#6 Swimming in Lake Michigan! – Clear water, hot beach bods, endless sunshine and waves
#5 Beautiful and clean streets with an amazingly clear skyline – With everything that Chicago has to offer I’m not surprised that it looks like a Winter Wonderland in January and a Shore side Metropolis in July.
#4 The food will make your taste buds dance – There’s no need to be fearful of where your fish came from or how long the veggies have been out. Food here is fresh and delicious, from subs to soups to brie sandwiches, you’re pallet will thank you.
#2 Endless labyrinth of night activities – Besides bar/club hopping, crazy last minute suggestions from friends will lead you to a verysuccessful night
#1 Reason to move to Chicago: The amazing Midwesterners who always seem to have time for a conversation – This is an excellent way to find out what’s going on around the city and make cool new friends.
Having never been to Chicago prior to now I had no idea what to expect of the city, but what I found was something I wasn’t willing to let go of any time soon. Chicago is a gorgeous, clean, whimsical town full of quality entertainment and class A people. Why would you ever leave?

After I filmed my weekly segment on Thursdays at 9am on ABC TV’s “Windy City Live” today (click here to see it!), I had a ton of people asking me about my Katy Perry story that I told on air, saying she performed at one of our spots, The Underground, before she got BIG (before she even had a twitter account, now she has 8+million followers)! Totally true- here’s the video- it looks like she kissed me in it? I’m just saying…haha…
In case you don’t know, she is performing here tomorrow at All State Arena (the same time as Britney Spears at United Center?), and we are psyched to have her back! Enjoy the video!!!!!!
As you know we throw the hottest parties in the city for Lollapalooza. In the past we’ve done performances by Katy Perry, Kanye West, Perry Farrell, Mickey Avalon, Snow Patrol, Kenna, Mike Posner & many more! We will be releasing our party info soon, but in the meantime wanted to share the lineup for the 20th anniversary of Lollapalooza…

Totally forgot I talked in to my intern’s camera (see video) the night we ran around lollapalooza for lady gaga’s concert before I hosted the rock the vote party later that evening with gaga’s dj lady starlight and her opening band semi precious weapons of her monster ball tour… looking back at this random silly video its pretty cool to see what it’s like to be that close, see how beautiful the skyline is looking back at it with 40,000 fans screaming, walking back into the middle of it all when hanging with friends in the crowns & pink feathers (one being Hayden Panettiere from “heroes”), and just feeling the energy from all perspectives! above all- lady gaga is an incredible performer & told an inspiring story of how 3 yrs ago, there were just a handful of people at her stage and people teased her & told her she couldn’t do it, but she had a dream & her persistence made her dream come true!
Lollapalooza brings over 80,000 people & raises $13 million for the city of chicago each year.. so shout out to c3 who produces lolla as they just do an amazing job, make huge contributions to the city of chicago in so many different ways, and really just make so many of us happy w/all their amazing efforts & talents— can’t wait til next year!
I have been getting a ton of requests to share some pics from my crazy weekend… the obama visit, peeps from transformers, backstage lady gaga, soundgarden dinner at sunda, hosting “rock the vote” event, lollapalooza, celeb gifting suites, me sucking at rockstar kickball, my dance lessons, bananas… hopefully it all speaks for itself as I am running to catch a plane to Africa!
Speaking of, if you aren’t following me on facebook & twitter you are seriously missing out on all the sharing I do- and will miss out as I go great white shark diving, go on safari, eat like crazy, hit the winelands,… throughout south Africa & Namibia over the next 11days! Will post video here too- but seriously follow me on twitter & facebook for the pics & action in real time! seeya!
every year, people, performers, celebs,.. around the world come to the great city of chicago (and our venues, see video above!) to enjoy the best musical talent around at lollapalooza! this year, i’m happy to announce that my rockit ranch crew & I will be kicking it all off w/ the official “rock the vote party!” w/ live performances by lady gaga peeps/openers semi precious weapons & her monster tour dj lady starlight soon as they get off the gaga stage at lollapalooza! Wonder if she will be following them over? hmmmmmm
you never know as not only is her crew performing with us, but “rock the vote” is a great cause that most performers back! as you know from following me on twitter and facebook, if I can ever share fun experiences like partying with these performers and combine a good cause with it, i try my best… and I don’t think anyone would argue against the importance of getting young people to get involved in their communities, futures & voting! So hope you too will join us!

Last night at sunda I got to catch up w/my old buddy Charlie jones, one of the 3 c’s in “c3” that’s responsible for the ever successful outdoor summer music festival in our sweet home chicago, “lollapalooza!” (check this video & you will see how much fun we have w/it!) I first met him when the mayor brought me, & a couple others like Charlie, into his office years ago to think of new ways to make summers fests in chicago even better, and I’ve been impressed w/their group ever since! Year after year they bring enormous talent & investment to our city… so whenever I see him like the other night, I am sure to let him know i appreciate it.
Speaking of appreciation, i also let him know I was psyched about all the buzz surrounding their ridiculously hardcore line up this year before it was even released! we laughed about how each year he can never keep his line ups a secret and joked that from now on the 3 c’s are just going to keep it to themselves… hilarious! And of course, I wrapped it up like a big nerd saying “I can’t believe you have lady gaga! can you intro me?!” he says, “sure if you support parkways foundation event night before.” I say “done! really?” He says, “no, but support anyway.” Again, Hilarious… but I agree, we all should support anyway… so sharing all the lolla and parkways info with you now…
