You can team with the Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo to save kids’ lives. Plus, you can own his game used jersey and bat. How? Keep reading…
A Piece of the Game is a half hour sports memorabilia and collectibles TV show that airs nationally each month on both the Fox Sports Net and Comcast SportsNet regional channels. In 2013, the program was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Sports Series and for the 2014 and 2015 season is proud to have a partnership with Allstate as the title sponsor. The format of A Piece of the Game is fast paced, compelling and includes a wide variety of engagement and story telling. From a Jesse Owens’ gold medal in 1936 to a Bentley once owned by Michael Jordan, the variety of intrigue and curiosity touches every corner of the sports landscape.
The creator and producers of the program are committed to contributing to the “greater good” and in a recent episode shared the amazing story of Chicago Cubs All Star first baseman, Anthony Rizzo. In 2008, at the age of 18 and beginning his new journey as professional baseball player, Anthony was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. For the next six months, he went through chemotherapy and by November of that same year doctors told him he was finally in remission and could resume leading a normal life. Knowing he wanted to become a role model and help cancer patients and their families, Rizzo founded The Anthony Rizzo Foundation in 2012.
In the program segment at the link below, A Piece of the Game host, Dave Kaplan, joins Anthony Rizzo at Wrigley Field along with leukemia patient, Ben Cowing. Ben is in need of a bone marrow transplant, but at the current time has not found the proper match.
To raise money and encourage donations for such a nobel cause, Rizzo signed one of his “game used” bats and and a jersey and both will go to the highest bidder as part of an online auction. Every dollar raised will go to The Anthony Rizzo Foundation and then to the non-profit “Be The Match.”

Back in 1986, a high school wise guy came to Chicago and stirred things up a bit. People danced in the streets and Wrigley Field was taken over by three juvenile delinquents – all for a day off. Now, 25 years later, the legend of Ferris Bueller lives on.
On October 1, in celebration of the film’s anniversary, Groupon and Wrigley are setting up three giant movie screens in the ballpark to show the classic film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Catch a younger Matthew Broderick, Wrigley Field and the Willis Tower, back when it was known as the Sears Tower. With it taking place on a Saturday night, you don’t even have to skip school to attend. Additionally, there will be an attempt to break the world record for singing the movie’s anthem, Danke Shoen.
During the movie, pay special attention to the scenes at the baseball game. Do you know the score or what game they are at? Check out some impressive detective work here – you’re sure to impress your friends with your knowledge.
Tickets are $10 for bleacher seats, $25 for an outfield lawn seat or $75 for a VIP outfield lawn seat that gets you access to a pre-event party at the Captain Morgan Club, but also be on the lookout because our CEO, Billy Dec, is giving away some tickets on twitter & facebook!
So, dust off your 80s gear, warm-up that voice and grab some close friends to help “Save Ferris!”
Hey BillyDec.com readers! Matt Kochis here, Summer Intern for Billy – thought I would share this fun event happening this weekend! The Chicago Cubs are throwing their first ever “Wrigleyville Block Party!” This block party is inspired by the one-day festival held last year during the Northwestern-Illinois football game at Wrigley. The festival, nicknamed “Wildcat Way,” ended up being a great success and the Cubs are hoping the same for their three-day one. I was able to attend the Wildcat Way last year and had a blast at it. Between the food, drinks, good people, and the game, what was not to like? This block party will take place across three weekends during the summer weekend series against the Yankees, Sox, and Cardinals.
The Wrigleyville Block Party will feature live music from some of Chicago’s top cover bands, family-friendly activities such as arts and crafts, a basketball hoop attached to PNC Bank’s Virtual Wallet Van, a photo booth, a Wii Home Run Derby station, and the new Cubs Trolley complete with eight flat-screen TVs, video game consoles and more. This block party sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun and a great way for the Cubs to provide something extra for their fans. It’s nice to see them giving back to their supporters and wanting them to have an awesome time at Wrigley besides just watching the game. Rockit Wrigley is also right across the street so if you ever get hungry or thirsty and don’t want what the block party offers, there are other options out there!
The festivities will take place on the Cubs’ red and purple parking lots which are located on the west side of Wrigley Field. Party will start at 11 a.m. and go until 8 p.m. daily throughout the festival weekends starting on June 17. Come on out and support the Cubs and join in on the fun that Wrigleyville has to offer!

Wrigley field is one of the most iconic baseball stadiums in the country- located right here in the great city of Chicago and has served as the home field of the Chicago Cubs since 1916. However, did you know that it also was the home of the Chicago Bears (see pic above of the Bears at Wrigley Field) between 1921-1970 & even held the record for holding the most NFL games played within a season up until 2003?
Well I’m super excited that Wrigley will again host football (which hasn’t happened in 40 years!) w/ my alma mater, the Illini, going head-to-head w/ the Wildcats on November 20 for this highly awaited collegiate Big 10 conference game. Who will join me to watch this game at Rockit Wrigley with the Chicago Illini Club w/ food & drinks?? For tickets, visit www.chicagoillini.org… Let’s go Illini!

It’s a party every summer in wrigleyville, but w/new owners of the cubs, not having the best weather last year, and it being our 1st cubs opening day celebration at the new rockit Wrigley, I get the feeling my team & I will be immersed in extra fun this summer in wrigleyville… and we hope you will be a part of it too!
I’m hearing 1st of all that the biggest “do not miss” party day is opening day, this Monday (4/12)! Rockit Wrigley for example has b96 ( click to hear on radio ) airing live from Wrigley’s cubs opener on our patio from 10a-2p! you for sure should tune in to hear the energy, or better yet, with or w/o tix, just come & join us! If you do, you could win “impossible to find” tix for the opening game, concert seats to rihanna, cool gear, gift certificates… trust me, insane giveaways w/insane parties! You just need to be there!
And as for us, we are just going to keep the party going thru game 2 (weds 4/14)! Somehow we have the honor of being chosen as the actual location for the official post game radio show “Cubs 10th Inning on WGN!” yes, you have to turn in again, but if you or anyone you know is going to the game, or is near the neighborhood, there is only one way to be a part of the culture, fun, energy & celebration, and its to be live w/us!
in just the 1st two games of the year next week, looks to me like are going to have a great summer.. all you have to do is jump in and live it up! If we can help in anyway, whether you need our private party room that looks directly across the street at Wrigley (click here for pics and info), a table reservation, or just anything… email Kris@RockitRanch.com! For other radio fun, click here for a fun quick clip of me live yesterday on wgn giving away killer stuff on Michigan ave in the rain- and answering questions about how we all started in the biz- haha! and then click here to enjoy that new commercial I tweeted about yesterday when in the editing room- just telling it how it is I guess- notice us laughing about the 9a-2a party opening day- just ridiculous!
Want to win tickets from me? Be the 1st five people to have 20 friends sign up as a fan of this page www.facebook.com/rockitwrigley and mention your name…and win 2 tickets (i have 10 tix, so 5 winners!) to Opening Day! Winners announced by this Sunday at 6pm!!!
