Put up your gloves at The Main Event, the first ever charity-boxing match sponsored by The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago!  Join us from 6-11 p.m. on Friday, February 6th, at the Drury Lane in Oakbrook for an exciting night of amateur boxing fights, cocktails and ringside seating!

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago will host the event, called the Patrick J. Ryan Main Event, to support the Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide (LOSS) Program. Former Attorney General of Illinois Jim Ryan and his wife Marie established the event after the loss of their son, Patrick, to suicide. The LOSS program provides free counseling and support to those who have lost a loved one to suicide. This event specifically supports the Child and Youth program which provides counseling support to children who have lost someone to suicide and addresses their unique emotional needs.

The Main Event will feature a match up with 139lb. novice 2013 Golden Glove Champion, 19-year-old Joey Ryan of Villa Park. Ryan will be boxing to honor his late uncle, Patrick J. Ryan. Boxing has been a family tradition for the Ryan’s, starting with Jim Ryan Sr. who won the Middle Weight Golden Glove Championship in 1964. John, Jimmy and Matt Ryan all grew up boxing.
