Aly Jados: From American Idol to The Voice Representing Chicago

Over 20 million were watching when I auditioned for Season 10 of “American Idol” along with my flirt session with Steven Tyler. Got my golden ticket to Hollywood, then got the golden boot after the infamous and brutal group round.

I’ve been singing as far back as I can remember, but I started playing guitar when my dad gave me his ’78 Gibson Les Paul when I was 13, and since then I’ve never put it down. Growing up, I lived and breathed music, playing guitar in punk and metal bands, always believing I was destined to be a rock n roll star. Never in my wildest dreams did I think American Idol was in that plan, or any reality show.

After almost a year of playing solo in clubs around Chicago I decided to try out for this new show called “The Voice”. A couple weeks ago my audition was briefly aired, and I unfortunately did not get to showcase what I know I can do. The judges didn’t turn their chairs.

All it did was add fuel to my fire.

When I moved to Chicago three years ago, I vowed I would make a name for myself. In this industry there are no shortcuts…and I’m always staying busy, practicing playing shows, and most recently recording and making zombie music videos. I just released my first EP through Chicago-based label Cassette Company, entitled Don’t Come Easy. I also shot this music video for my single Waiting. This video was built from the ground up in a week and a half. I enlisted friends, roommates and fans to deck out as my zombies. I built sets from thrift store props, and we snuck our way into a funeral home and inside a casket to bring the story to life. Chicago is a hub for creative, passionate people and that’s what makes this city great to me. All the tools I need to succeed are right here. My “Reality” TV journey may be over, but the real adventure has just begun.
