Make way for the “sport of kings” this weekend. Beach chairs, towels, and volleyballs will be replaced with horses when the first Chicago Beach Polo World Cup makes its way to North Avenue Beach on October 1st & 2nd. Athletes from around the world will be in the Windy City looking for a win. “The two-day international polo tournament will host a field of eight teams. Four teams will compete in World Cup play while four women’s teams will compete for the North Beach Women’s Polo Cup.”

Described as “hockey on horseback,” all of the action will take place in a custom-built beach arena, approximately the size of an American football field. Sponsored by Grey Goose Vodka, Don Miguel Gascon, Fogo de Chao, Amstel Light and Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago, there will definitely be great events outside of the venue as well. V.I.P. suites, social-tents, shops, and fashion shows are on the schedule.

Whether you’re an avid follower of the sport or new to the idea, come out to experience this fascinating event. Horses, athletes, and sand – sure to be a winning combination.

    Hi Billy,

I’d like to register to win tickets for the Polo event this weekend. I’ve been looking forward to this event ever since you first mentioned it, about a month ago, on Windy City Live. I was in Miami during a Polo event, however, I didn’t watch them compete. They were just setting up while I was there:/ I’ve wanted to see a match ever since. Also, being around horses is very reminiscent of being on my grandparent’s farm in Mexico. I’m truely a cowgirl at heart. Our family hasn’t been able to visit our remote town/ farm in Mexico for almost 9 years because of the chaos going on right now. It’s very sad. It would be wonderful to be around the horses and to be a part of this event.
As far as what I like about you…..what’s not to like!? Thank you so much for all the great information on “what’s on dec”. I wouldn’t know what’s going on or where to go in the Chicago area without your segment. You’re genuinly all inclusive with your event recommendations. Your easy going sincerity is refreshing and I feel like I’m sitting across the table from a good friend telling me what’s going on for the weekend. For example: your fun description of the dragon dancers during the China Town Festival was enough for me to load everyone up in my car & drive to the fest from Aurora. We loved it!
Thanks so much for all the great info! Keep up the great job!

Hey Billy, I have to admit I haven’t followed you for long at all but I’m glad to run into you and Windy City Live. I think its great to have a talk show that concentrates on subjects about our city. My girlfriend and I have been watching you guys almost every night now for the past few weeks, thanks to her really she stays hip on whats going on all the time. Anyway, I don’t Love the sport of polo but I love the idea of me and my girlfriend enjoying a day at the beach VIP status. Hope to hear from you soon!
