LIVE AUCTION WITH ONE OF A KIND AUTOGRAPHED ITEMS FROM CHICAGO PD, CHICAGO MED, CHICAGO FIRE and EMPIRE!!! There is also a silent auction and raffle with hundreds of fabulous prizes. My organization not only produces PSAs. The main reason why we do this is to provide financial assistance for kids to participate in after school and summer camp activities. We want to enable kids to find their “SPARK”…the thing that lights them up….the thing that makes them feel good about themselves and gives them confidence. WE WANT TO HELP KEEP KIDS OFF THE STREETS AND AWAY FROM GANGS AND GUN VIOLENCE!!!! I work 70 hour weeks as the Script Supervisor for CHICAGO PD. You might wonder why on top of that hectic schedule, I chose to work numerous other hours each week to help children that I do not even know. On January 2, 2015 my son Patrick went out to play basketball. He never came home. In Rosemont, Illinois he was gunned down. He was shot in the back of his sweet neck as he was running away. He was running away from a confrontation between two rival gangs. Yes, gangs…in Rosemont, Illinois. Hard to believe, right? We are still in shock. It is surreal. Gangs are everywhere and they are continually recruiting. And young junior high and high school students are extremely vulnerable to their tactics. We cannot stop all gang and gun violence but if we can help some kids stay busy and out of their clutches we will be succeeding. If we can save one single life, we will be succeeding. We want to redirect a child on a troubled course onto a positive course ……a course which will add to our society. My son was handsome, athletic, smart, happy, cheerful and a leader. He was the self- proclaimed King of 8th Grade….loved by all and the protector of the weak from bullies. BUT HE NEVER GOT TO GRADUATE FROM 8TH GRADE!!!! HE NEVER GOT TO GO TO HIGH SCHOOL OR LEARN TO DRIVE A CAR OR GO TO A PROM OR START A FAMILY. And we, his family have be stripped of the future with him and his future family. Our community has been stripped of its sense of security. My daughter and the other children of our community have been stripped of their innocence. If someone like Patrick Boswell can be gunned down while innocently walking home from a basketball court….then anyone can!! I do not want another mother or father feel this horrible pain. I do not want another sister to feel the loss that my little girl feels every day. I will not let my son’s death be in vain. He shall live on…the light he spread while here on earth shall shine on in thousands of children as we help them find their way in this crazy world. Please help us. Come to our event. If you cannot make the event, please donate to our cause. Please help us be a part of the answer to the horrible gun epidemic ruining our beautiful city.
