With one of the larger-scaled Chicago concert venues, Congress Theater, recently shutting down, a new Logan Square venue emerges.

Concord Music Hall officially opened August 17th, with Gogol Bordello, a Gypsy Punk Band from the lower-east side of Manhattan, to help make its debut. Located at 2047 N. Milwaukee Ave. the 700-1600 capacity of Concord is hoping to bring large acts from all different kinds of genres back into the Wicker Park and Logan Square area.

Chicago promoters from many scenes have put equal effort into making this venue happen. React Presents, Riot Fest and Silver Wrapper are the masterminds behind Spring Awakening, North Coast Music Festival and Riot Fest. These festivals are among the many that have been successful in bringing culture and music to the city and Concord is already planning on hosting NCMF and Riot Fest after-parties, like a Passion Pit Dj Set and The Disco Biscuits.

The location and capacity attracted the promoters to the venue, but they all hope to bring music back into the neighborhoods. The venue anticipates bringing everything from rock, to hip-hop, to jazz, to electronic. Diversity in music will bring a great diversity in people and the music culture has never been something Chicago has been short of. If there’s one thing Chicago doesn’t lack its great venues, and when a music spot struggles another will always prosper.

Thanks!
