February 23, 2012 – CHICAGO – On Saturday, March 3, Rockit Ranch Productions will commemorate not one – but two – major milestones with a larger than life bash at Rockit Bar & Grill, 22 W. Hubbard, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.: Chicago’s 175th Birthday and the 3rd anniversary of the company’s popular entertainment, arts & culture blog, aChicagoThing.com, founded by CEO Billy Dec.

With 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting The Greater Chicago Food Depository – a not for profit food distribution and training center providing meals for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community – get ready to dust off your dancing shoes and celebrate…all for a good cause!

In addition to Chicago-themed bites and sips and a mix of the most dynamic personalities in the city’s arts, social media & philanthropic scenes, the event will truly rock with a montage of music videos from Chicago’s most celebrated artists, as well as live sets from up and comers featured on aChicagoThing.com, who have gone on to receive national acclaim, including Aly Jados (American Idol and The Voice), Darin Ortmann (ABC’s Karaoke Battle USA), Kidd Russell, and more surprise performers.

“I’ve always had a passion for all things Chicago, and it’s an honor to give a platform to local newcomers and under-the-radar finds, showcasing their raw talent to the masses, who I know will appreciate them too,” says Billy Dec.  “I’m thrilled to celebrate the 175th birthday of the best city in the world, and knowing that the event will raise funds for Chicagoans in need makes it that much sweeter.”

    The Treatment is a really cool local band that would be a great addition to the festivities. Their music is soul, R&B, blues, funk and pop. I have been part of the Chicago mural art scene for some time and I would paint Chicago in a bright shining light and create extreme detail to show how we all contribute to the continue success of our great city.
