Hey guys! I’m Alex and I am one of Billy’s new interns for Fall 2014. If you have wanted to ‘fall’ for fashion even more this season, then keep reading. The new trends straight from New York Fashion Week are reaching Chicago. However, they are not exactly what you would expect. Pretty pastel colors covered runways and are making a bold statement. So bold, that Chicago has taken on a huge fashion makeover.

Geometric prints and pastels are the perfect feminine but eye-catching look! Check out these printed pants from Target! This reasonably priced and stylish skinny pant would flatter anyone. It would also transfer well from a day-to-night look. What are the top colors this season you ask? Pale pink, powder blue, and even a pop of yellow are surprisingly in for this fall. Brighten up your fashion and your day. Check out this chic jacket Macy’s has by Rachel Roy. This color is amazing and subtle enough to move into any season. The print is young and gives us that bold look that stands out! You might need a band-aid, because I ‘fell’ for that jacket too. Floral and bright styles set against darker fabrics are also making their way onto the best-dressed lists all over every A-list event. Contrast is important.

We cannot forget details ladies. Check out this Pastel Dream Multi-Stripe Scarf from Forever 21. Its pastel print is just nautical enough to pass with any pop of color or navy cardigan. Jeweled necklaces or headbands will add that oh-la-la factor that will set you apart from the fall commoner this season.  And if you want a more polished look, take your favorite pastel nail polish. Such as OPI’s Nordic Collection color called “My Dogsled is a Hybrid”. It is the perfect pastel green and it seems too ‘mint’ to be. Throw a couple coats on, and you’ve nailed it. It is all about making a statement this season and lets try to stay away from our typical neutral palette. Instead of drab, lets try being totally fab! Color- here we come!

Until next time, stay BRIGHT Chicago!
