Join me this Sunday at the Davis Theater to see cast members from Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD star in a live staged reading of a new screenplay, Waiting, to benefit Piven Theatre Workshop arts outreach for women. Written by Evanston filmmaker Colleen Griffen and Stephanie Gruber NelsonWaiting explores the delays, extended intervals and holds in women’s lives and features Marlyne Barrett, Sophia Bush, Torrey DeVitto, Tally Dully, Kara Kilmer, Miranda Rae Mayo, S. Epatha Merkerson, Amy Morton, Monica Raymond and Marina Squerciati. All funds raised will ensure Piven can continue bringing theatre workshops to women in Cook County Jail Women’s Division and start a new program for victims of domestic violence at the YWCA Evanston/North Shore. In the jail and at the shelter, Piven arts outreach offers a chance for women to experience joy, find relief and share their voices during difficult times.  The staged reading begins at 3:00 pm, followed by a reception at Carbon Arc Bar & Board at the Davis. Visit bit.ly/pivenwaiting for tickets and more information. Davis Theater is located at 4614 N. Lincoln Ave. in Lincoln Square.
