You know those bands that you are just predestined to love? As if you were subliminally manipulated while still in the womb, listening to hours upon hours of it. The lines of the songs are drawn directly to your ear and you know every word with no recollection of when you learned them. You were basically force fed their excellence from your parents as a kid, and wound up having nothing but respect for them as you grew up. It’s Pink Floyd for me. Literally, if it wasn’t Disney songs or Kids Bop on, the only other thing I can remember was “The Wall”… kidding about the Kids Bop, nobody actually bought those… But, I remember belting out my best “Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone!” when I was 10 riding in the car with my dad. “Wish You Were Here” was the first solo I think I ever learned on guitar, and largely responsible for the reason I picked one up in the first place. And “Comfortably Numb” describes the actual feeling you get from hearing it. Unfortunately, my generation missed out on Waters and Gilmore in their prime, but on a positive note we get more derivatives and Pink Floyd tributes than you can keep track of. Once in a while, a unique one comes around, and in the case of Hot and Heavy Burlesque, it’s once a year.

“Hey You” this Thursday Feb. 9th – Sunday Feb. 12th Hot and Heavy Burlesque’s annual tribute to Pink Floyd’s: The Wall will commence at their new venue, Stage 773. Featuring brand new acts, sets, and features, the show continues to impress year after year, and has quickly become one of Hot and Heavy’s feature presentations. This powerful visual journey of a performance will guide the audience through the amazing double album we’ve all adored for years, interpreting the film written by Roger Water’s, and incorporating elements from the bands live performances, light shows, and all things that throw Pink Floyd up on a pedestal. Arial and acrobatic performances by some of the best local and national talent take this normal entertaining burlesque show to a whole new level of excitement. Simply put, it’s a fabulous production in tribute to an epic album and a perfect night out spent listening to it.  Tickets are available at the door the night of the show for $22 or at a discount when purchased in advance here. Hurry up and get yours!

-Cheers,
Bryan
